Itch has unlisted Northern Lights

Howdy y'all, Truffle here. You might have seen that itch.io has unlisted Northern Lights, as well as many other amazing NSFW games from the site. They can no longer be searched for, even if you check the 18+ box.

I'm heartbroken by this development, and saddened to see what credit card companies are allowed to control, dictating content available on open and free markets such as Steam, and Itch. This severely hurts the visibility of Northern Lights and so many more incredible furry visual novels.

There is no telling how long this will last, as of yet Itch has not made any official statements, just enacted widespread shadow bans and deplatforming.

We are deeply upset to see the changes that have came about from itch.io, we call for our community to help sign the ACLU https://action.aclu.org/petition/mastercard-sex-work-work-end-your-unjust-policy and to spread the word to help convince itch.io to revert these changes. Please don't forget to support our fellow FVN devs who also are going through this massive change that affects how people will be able to find us. There is another website, https://fvn.li/ (courtesy of Akiba) that has a collection of FVNs like itch.io that we can use to help keep downloads available. We will do our best during this downtime to continue providing ways to obtain the public builds, and keep y'all updated.

We also encourage you to reach out to your local congressmen and urge them to vote for the Fair Access to Banking act.

Bowser of Chord Progressions has given some words you are welcome to copy and paste into the petition.

I urge you to please vote for the Fair Access to Banking Act. Payment processing companies like Visa and Mastercard are denying the free speech of artists who sell their art in open marketplaces. This has recently impacted video gaming. Steam and itch.io, two very popular marketplaces for distributing and buying video games, have been impacted. Many projects on these platforms have been censored and livelihoods have been gravely impacted. Payment processors, under no circumstances, should be able to dictate what we can buy and create. I believe endorsing this legislation will be helpful to that end.

(Don't copy this next part unless you're a developer yourself): I am a video game creator affected by this censorship and it needs to stop.

Hm, a sfw version might be a necessity if push comes to shove

Thank you for this information. Has this policy extended beyond the US for Itch, or is this a domestic issue? I am in America, but I am curious if this turn of events is also, to some extent, transnational.

The main issue is US based, but Itch and other services have implemented these restrictive policies for their entire user base.

fuck them, may they all die. fucking fascists.

Republicans when free speech includes anything that offends their narrow minded ignorant small petty view of the world "ban ban ban ban".

(+3)

This is insane. These companies have too much power, since when is it acceptable to let companies have this much control on your life?

A bit of a crude opinion, but this whole situation looks like wave of jealousy from those who lost their vigor, but still have their money and whatnot. Because logic certainly fails to apply here.
